What Does the following Ultrasound Test Result Mean?
I had a ultra sound done because I have had spotting off and on for past 2 mths, I am 36 years old never have conceived and have always had irregular periods, my ultrasound said the follwoing IMPRESSION: 11 mm hyperechoic focus within the endometrium, which is nonspecific but can be seen in the setting an endometrial polyp, endometrial hyperplasia, or endometrial carcinoma. Recommend direct visualization or saline infused sonohysterogram for further evaluation. how worried should I be???? everything else looked normal! the spotting went goes a way and comes back, sometimes a pulling sensation is left side! dull ache..worse when lifting or bowel movement thank you
Your ultrasound findings suggests small hyper echoic mass in the endometrium. It is a non specific finding and it may be due to many reasons like endometrial polyp, hyperplasia or carcinoma. Your condition need clinical correlation and further investigations. You may need direct visualization of endometrial cavity or saline infused sonohysterogram(ultrasound is done after infusion of saline in endometrial cavity,it gives better resolution). You may need biopsy of lesion. Proper treatment depend upon findings.
